(23 May 2017) Made in Italy is the instrument through which our country has built its image beyond its borders. It is synonymous with quality and excellence, an international expression of the culture of "Italian know how", but also a symbol of the victory of Italian emigration in the world. The project "Italians like us: excellence becomes identity" was developed with the aim of increasing national identity abroad and addressing the approximately 30 million Italian-Brazilian people in particular: a contact zone between Italy and Brazil. The event, scheduled for 2 June in Brazil, is promoted by the Brazil-Italy Friendship Association and Brazil Planet, and will be realised in collaboration with the Italian Chambers of Commerce in Brazil in the cities of Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, with an important mobilisation aimed at the diplomatic-consular network, the Italian Institutes of Culture, Italian language teaching, Associations and Patronage. The programme includes the exhibition "Excellencies that become identity" about the excellences of the 'Made in Italy' described in the book "Italians like us" which includes a free catalogue and poster. ITALIAN IDENTITY

The President of the Italians in the World Committee and a member of the Democratic Party (PD) elected in South America, Fabio Porta, introduced the event: "This year we will celebrate the Italian Republic Day, presenting the characteristic aspects of our identity and values with a moment of contact and learning between Italy and Brazil, united by history and the lives of millions of men and women who are still crossing the ocean today to strengthen their Italian identity that is at the root of our excellence and therefore of our future".
