(20 June 2017) The third season of "Vivacissimo!" - the annual music programme of the Italian Institute of Culture of Sydney, continues with the second event of 2017: after the concert "On Wings of Song", which featured soprano Alessandra Cantin and guitarist Massimo Scattolin. On June 29th, guitarist Gianfranco Summa will perform pieces by H. Villa-Lobos, Isaac Albeniz, Nikita Koshkin, AM Ponce, and Mauro Giuliani. Summa was born in Potenza in 1988 and began studying classical and modern guitar at the age of 12 with Bartolo Telesca. He later gained access to a guitar course at the Conservatory Gesualdo from Venosa of Potenza with Fabio Fasano and graduated with Aniello Desiderio. In his training it is important to remember Saverio Sangregorio, David Remigio, Stefano Cucci, and Dario Orabona. He followed masterclass with Carlo Marchione, and Leo Brouwer. Summa also taught at the Emiolia music association based in Potenza. He regularly performs as a soloist and is the organiser of the guitar concert "Ricerche di Stile" (A Search of Style), in which the most promising guitar students perform. (Red)


THE ARTIST

In 2015, Gianfranco Summa organised the "International Picerno City Guitar Festival" as the artistic director in which internationally renowned artists from Holland, Japan, Italy, and Brazil performed. In 2015 traveled on a three-month tour in South America (Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina), where performed in theatres and universities in South America. In 2016 he moved to Sydney, where he will remain until July 2017 and will then continue his concert activity in Mexico.
