(September 6, 2017) The Rakúske kultúrne fórum Bratislava will host Wednesday, September 13, starting at 6pm, "Music, images and poetry - Italian-Austrian cultural evening". The event - organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and the Rakúske kultúrne fórum - marks the meeting and interaction between the music played by pianist and composer Francesco Di Fiore and the images of the video artist Valeria Di Matteo, with poems by Austrian authors , read in Slovak by actress Andrea Karnasová. "Francesco Di Fiore", says in the note of the IIC – born in Palermo in 1966, studied music in his city graduating in piano in 1989. Since 1987 he studied composition and related subjects with maestro Eliodoro Sollima. Since 1990 he studied harpsichord at the Conservatory of Music in Palermo. Subsequently, in 1992, he studied the subject in Vienna with Professor Harald Ossberger. In 1993 he was awarded a scholarship from the Government of the Czech Republic for musical education with Professor Peter Toperczer at the National Academy of Music in Prague. Between 1989 and 1991 he attended numerous piano and chamber music classes in Italy and abroad. Noteworthy are the two-year workshop on Mozart's piano production held at the Sicilian Chamber Orchestra by the maestro Eliodoro Sollima and the laboratory on the interpretation of contemporary chamber music held by maestri Augusto Vismara and Eliodoro Sollima. In 1992 he studied classical and baroque chamber music on vintage keyboard instruments and reproduced copies (Renaissance and Baroque Period). He began his concert career in 1986, particularly in the formation of piano duo. He has performed hundreds of concerts for important institutions both in Italy and abroad, namely in Austria, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, USA, China, beginning by performing the traditional repertoire, but then especially the contemporary repertoire and original compositions".

Valeria Di Matteo, video artist and web designer, born in Catania, completed piano studies at Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory in Palermo with the highest marks, with a thesis on minimalist music. Particularly devoted to contemporary music, she has also took part in world premieres. Since 2006 she deals with video art, collaborating with several international composers such as William Susman, Douwe Eisenga, Neil Campbell, making original video projects for their songs. She collaborates steadily with pianist and composer Francesco Di Fiore performing her works live. Web designer since 2006, she creates websites especially linked to the world of contemporary music and visual art.
