Roberto Saviano at the Italian Institute of Culture

(8 September 2017) The Italian Embassy in Spain and the Italian Institute of Culture of Madrid are hosting Roberto Saviano in conversation with journalist Ana Pastor (September 20th) occasioned by the Spanish publication "La banda de los niños" ("La paranza dei bambini", Feltrinelli 2016). "La paranza dei bambini" is about the controversial rise of a "paranza" - a group tied to the Camorra - and their boss, the young Nicolas Fiorillo. Perched on the rooftops of the city, they learn to shoot with semi-automatic weapons and AK-47s by targeting TV dishes and antennas, then descending the streets spreading terror on their scooters. They gradually gain control of neighbourhoods, subtracting them from the power of their adversaries and forging alliances with old bosses. (Red)

THE IIC

The magnificent Madrid building that houses the Italian Institute of Culture - commonly referred to as Palacio de Abrantes - is located in the historic centre of the capital, in a small area called "Madrid of the Habsburgs", which refers to the small ancient town which served as the capital for the whole duration of the Habsburg dynasty, from Charles V until the advent of the Bourbons at the beginning of the eighteenth century.
