Italian Cinema a protagonist of Alzheimer's Week

(19 September 2017) Italian cinema is the protagonist in Rhodes during the week (September 18-22) dedicated to Alzheimer's. "Una sconfinata giovinezza" (Endless Youth) is a 2010 movie set in Rome written and directed by Pupi Avati starring Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Francesca Neri, Serena Grandi, and Gianni Cavina and it will be screened on Friday September 22 at 20:30 at the "Arsinoi" Clinic of the Municipal Theatre of Rhodes. The event was organised in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture of Athens. Lino and Chicca are a happily married childless couple, one is a sports journalist and the other is Professor of romance philology. Their tranquil lives are interrupted by the Lino's degenerative disease characterised by loss of memory and a series of clinical tests. From that point on, Lino's life takes a turn for the worse while his wife's attitude of not giving up keeps their relationship alive despite the enormous hardships. Set as a story narrated by the external voice of the wife, "Endless Youth" received three nominations and a victory for the 2011 Silver Ribbon: special award (Pupi Avati) and two victories at the Bari International Film Festival 2011 for best screenplay (Giuliano Pennati) and best costumes (Stefania Consaga and Maria Fassari).
