Unitre organised a series of lectures on Pirandello

(Septmber 28th, 2017) For the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello, Unitre of Basel has organised a course titled “Dalla Sicilia al mondo” (from Sicily to the World) in collaboration with the Italian Consulate. It was conducted by the director of the School Office of the Italian Consulate, Professor Antonio Cassonello. The course is a series of 7 lectures in which some of the most representative works of Pirandello, especially some excerpts from “Il fu Mattia Pascal; “Quaderni di Serafino Gubbio operatore”; the theatre works “Sei personaggi in cerca d’autore”; “Enrico IV”; and from his essay “L’umorismo”. 


THE NOBEL PRIZE

Pirandello, one of the most influential writers and playwrights of Italian and general literature and theatre was awarded with the prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature in 1934 with the following statement: “For his bold and ingenious revival of dramatic and scenic art”.
