A tribute to Campania for Italian cuisine week

The Novembere event programme of the IIC Sydney for members and friends, will focus on Italian food and wine. For the second consecutive year, The Week of Italian Cuisine in the world takes place in November. It is an event that this year takes place on the 20th until the 26th of November in 130 countries. Thousands of government bodies and communities participate in the celebrations to promote Italy's prime export product: good taste in food. There will be numerous events that will guide the public through the discovery of regional Italian cuisine, organised by the IIC Sydney in collaboration with Casa Barilla - Sydney. To pay tribute to Campania, for example, Andrea Tranchero, Executive Chef at Casa Barilla, compiled a menu of typical dishes. During his demonstration participants will be taught how to make an octopus and potato salad, colatura di alici, rigatoni alla partenopea. The dishes will then be tasted at the end, accompanied by a fine glass of wine from Campania. The region boasts of one of the most ancient culinary traditions as well as one of the richest in the global culinary landscape. A crossroads between Mediterranean people and culture, the region is in many ways very unique in terms of agriculture and food. It is not by chance that it is home to the Mediterranean diet, pizza, tomato sauces, mozzarella di bufala, and many other specialties known and appreciated throughout the world.
