Italy in the field to evaluate the Wadi Qadisha Archaeological Site

The Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Massimo Marotti and UNESCO Director for Lebanon, Hamad Al-Hammami, have signed an agreement to finance the "Rehabilitation and Development of Wadi Qadisha" project. The project aims to improve mobility and preserve cultural and archaeological heritage in the Qadisha Valley. The project, funded with €500,000 by the Italian Government will be implemented by UNESCO in collaboration with the General Directorate of Antiquities, the Maronite Patriarchate, and the Unions of the Muncipalities. The aim is to rehabilitate the hiking trails in order to improve mobility in the valley and adjacent municipalities, to restore the archaeological sites of the Hessen and Deir es-Salib, and to ensure training in the conservation and restoration of cultural and archaeological heritage through collaborations with local and international universities.
