Astaldi will construct a suspension bridge over the Danube

Astaldi announced that it has won the contract in a business cluster, for the construction of a suspension bridge over the Danube in the area of Braila, Romania. The total value of the construction works is around €435 million, of which Astaldi has a 60% stake. The contract involves the design and construction of a suspension bridge with a total length of 1,975 metres, with a central light of 1,120 meters and two lateral lights measuring 490 and 365 metres. Two bridge access viaducts, measuring 110 metres in length, as well as about 23 kilometers of road access are planned for construction. The completion of the suspension bridge will comprise of one year for the design and 3 years for the construction. The construction is commissioned by CNAIR, a Romanian State Company headed by the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures. The works are included in the country's Master Plan of Transport and are funded by the EU under the European POIM Programme.
