Research: Aera awards an Italian study for the first time

The research company AERA (American Educational Research Association) is one of the most important companies in the world in the education sector. It has recently conferred to Dr. Serafina Pastore the Emerging Scholar award for her studies conducted in the Measurement and Assessment in High Education. Dr. Pastore is a researcher in Pedagogy at the Department of Education Sciences, Psychology, and Communication of the University of Bari. This is the first time that such recognition has been conferred to an Italian scholar. Dr. Pastore will receive the award during the annual conference in New York this April. Dr. Pastore's research focuses on the evaluation of the quality of teaching, training assessment, feedback, and teacher training for evaluation. In the field of Measurement and Assessment in Higher Education, she focused on how the conceptions that teachers and students have of evaluation in the context of institutional reforms and transformations (such as those carried out by the implementation of the quality assurance process). As a member of the Presidium of Quality of the University of Bari, she was the coordinator and principal investigator of the IDEA project (Improving Feedback Developing Effective Assessment in Higher Education) - winner of the Public Competition for Research Ideas funded by ANVUR. It was a research project aimed at defining an evaluation model and feedback that, in addition to promoting better learning for students, is embedded in the educational quality assurance system of courses.
