Conference on Sciascia and Mediterranean culture

"Memory and Mediterranean origins in the culture of Leonardo Sciascia" is the title of the conference that Professor Francesca Maria Corrao will hold at the Umberto Agnelli Auditorium of the Italian Institute of Culture in Tokyo on Wednesday, March 21st at 18:00. The conference highlights Sciascia's interest in Mediterranean culture and his desire to contribute to the general recovery of the memory of Arab presence in Sicily. It also recalls the novel "Il Consiglio d'Egitto" (The Council of Egypt) and the story dedicated to Giufà in the collection "Il mare colore del vino" (The Wine Colored Sea). In the first work, Sciascia's careful research activities emerge while in the latter, the reader discovers his interest in Sicilian and Mediterranean popular culture thanks to primary testimonies.
