“Ever Closer Union” exhibition highlighting European integration 60 years after Treaties

(17 March 2017) With the exhibition “Ever Closer Union. The Legacy of the Treaties of Rome for Today’s Europe”, the historic archives of the European Union retrace the entire history of European integration from the Ventotene Manifesto to date through images and testimonials with 14 panels divided into four thematic sections. The project was launched on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome at the Farnesina (Foreign Ministry) and will be on display for the rest of the year in various EU nations and abroad. The exhibition will also be on display in Greece. The Athens opening will be on March 21st at 11:00 in the Conference Hall of the European Parliament in Athens (Amalia, No. 8). It was organised by the Italian Embassy, the European Parliament and the Representing body of the European Commission to Greece in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens. Making opening remarks will be the Greek Deputy Foreign Ministry Giorgos Katrougalos, Chief of Staff of the European Parliament in Athens Leonidas Antonakopoulos, the Italian Ambassador to Greece Efisio Luigi Marras, and the Maltese Ambassador toe Greece Panos Karvounis. The exhibition will be open to the public from March 21 until the 29th at the European Parliament in Athens and from March 31st to April 7th at the Italian School of Athens followed by the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens. A TESTIMONY TO INTEGRATION

 This historically themed and commemorative exhibition comprises of text panels, informative captions, and archival documents from the Archives of the European University Institute, the Foreign Ministries of Italy and other Member States. It is a testament to Europe’s mission of integration of the last 60 years.
