(15 may 2018) The Literature Night takes place as usual in May, in Bratislava and other Slovakian cities. The main objective of the event on May 16th, is to promote the best European literature translated into Slovak. As in its previous edition, the "Literature Night" is coordinated by the Czech Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the cultural departments of major European Embassies operating in the country. This year, on May 16th, Italy will be represented with Paolo Cognetti's novel "The Eight Mountains", winner of the 2017 Strega Award. The novel was translated by Martina Kolenová and published by Ikar in Slovakia. Actor Ondrej Kovathe will read some passages of Cognetti's work.The reading of The Eight Mountains book will also take place in Banská Štiavnica, Kežmarok, Liptovský Mikuláš, Nitra, Považská Bystrica, Senec, Trenit isín, Trnava, Žilina, and Levice.
