From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
(19 June 2018) The young archaeologist, Eva Degl’Innocenti, will present “MarTa” - The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto - on Monday June 25th at 19:00 at the Italian Institute of Culture of Hamburg (the talk will be in Italian with simultaneous translation). The museum was founded in 1887 by the archaeologist Luigi Viola as an Ancient Greek museum. It was temporarily closed for renovations from 2000 to 2007. The museum holds one of the most significant archaeological collections of Southern Italy and one of the largest collections of ancient Greek artefacts such as the “Ori di Taranto”, hellenic jewellery discovered in the tombs of the “Italian Mezzogiorno”. Degl’Innocenti, the director of MarTa since 2015, proposes new museological strategies and new ways of reading the territory.
