Leopardi, poetry<br>as the art of living

(21 june 2018) ”Sempre caro mi fu quest'ermo colle", so begins one of the most beautiful sonnets of literature of all time. The contemplation from Leopardi's solitary hill offers a bird's-eye view of the evocative landscape of the Marche region. To the famous poet born in Recanati, one of the greatest voices of Italian literature, Alessandro D'Avenia has dedicated his book "L'art d'être fragile" (PUF, 2018 / L'arte di essere fragili, Mondadori 2016), which afforded him great success in Italy. The author explains how, against all expectations, his encounter with the poet revealed to him the art of being happy. His intimate and overwhelming dialogue with the author of L'Infinito invites us to take a new look at Leopardi's work, his philosophy, and his life. The author will be in conversation with journalist, novelist and author of "Croire au merveilleux" (Believing in the Wonderful, Gallimard, 2017) Christophe Ono-dit-Biot at the Italian Institute of Culture in Paris on June 25th.
