The Grecanico Salentino song book <br> among the Songlines Music Awards finalists

The Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino confirms its international prestige. Tomorrow the group will perform at the Electric Brixton in London for the award ceremony of the Songlines Music Awards 2018. Organised by "Songlines", the world's most important world music magazine that since 2009 has taken the place of the previous BBC Radio3 World Music Awards, is one of the most coveted international awards in the field. The group is a finalist in the Best group section and if they win, they would be the first Italians to win the award. It's an important nomination for the group, consisting of Mauro Durante (voice, violin and drums), Alessia Tondo (vocals and castanetes), Emanuele Licci (vocals, guitar and bouzouki), Giulio Bianco (bagpipe, bass, harmonica, flutes and folk vocals), Massimiliano Morabito (organ), Giancarlo Paglialunga (vocals and tambourine) and Silvia Perrone (dance), which in these years has established itself as one of the most important exponents of world music at an international level thanks to the work of the label Ponderosa and to the constant accompaniment of Puglia Sounds. During the evening in London - part of the programming of Puglia Sounds Export 2018 (Puglia Region - FSC 2014/2020 - Patto per la Puglia - Investing in your future) - the group will propose some songs by "Canzoniere" - the last album released in 2017 for Ponderosa: a percussive groove of framed drums that seems to come from the electronics of a drum machine.
