Here comes the most awaited event of Marostica: the Living Chess Game that will be played in four rounds, from today until Sunday. The popular "challenge" has been missing since September 2018, due to the Covid pandemics. With the call "Zente d'Arme, Alè", the places of the Game – Piazza degli Scacchi and the Castello Inferiore of the Venetian walled city – will be filled with banners representing the different Arts and Villages whose players will perform to the rhythm of Renaissance instruments. The cheering of those present will accompany the masters of historical fencing and the performances of the archers. Chess with living characters is played on the Piazza di Marostica every second weekend of September of even years and it attracts people from all over the world. The exceptional historical setting of Marostica is one of the most beautiful walled villages in the world: with its over 650 participants, rich Renaissance costumes, music, fireworks, flag-wavers, and the famous fire of the medieval castle, this reenactment represents one of the symbols of Italian folklore and history in the world.
