Mattia Sorbi, a 43-year-old Italian journalist, was hurt during a firefight in Kherson, one of the cities most affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The reporter's conditions were quite severe, but he has undergone surgery and is no longer in mortal danger. During the firefight in which he was shot, his driver perished: Sorbi had been in Ukraine since February 24 to cover and report on the ongoing conflict for Rai. Since August 31st, there had been no news of Sorbi, to the point that his German colleague Arnd Ginzel had issued an alert on his Facebook page, explaining that Sorbi would leave Mykolaiv in the direction of Oleksandrivka, a village about 50 kilometers away, at around 5 p.m. on August 31st. Ginzel has attempted to call the Italian journalist but received no response. Yesterday, Sorbi himself reported that he was healthy and safe.
