The high-speed railway between Milan and Paris will soon be equipped with a new train designed by Alstom and destined for the French railways (SNCF), which have invested 3.5 billion euros in this fifth-generation TGV that will compete with the Italian Frecciarossa. The train will have 740 seats, one hundred more than the current ones, and will travel in nine carriages rather than the current eight. It will also have more comfortable seats and a more stable Wi-Fi connection thanks to 5G. In contrast to the current situation, where the SNCF is only allowed to propose three first-class carriages and five second-class carriages, the company will have complete autonomy over how the carriages are allocated. Finally, the new train, which is more aerodynamic and lighter, will use 20% less energy and emit 32% less CO2. The new train will be operational in 2024. The new TGV will also shorten travel times between Milan and Paris, which are currently around 6 hours and 40 minutes.
