Drones for the transport of medicines, medical equipment and new technologies for emergencies: this is the result of a collaboration between the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the Italian Red Cross, according to the protocol of understanding signed by the respective presidents, Pierluigi Di Palma and Francesco Rocca. With this understanding, services dedicated to the health emergency will be launched, to strengthen the prevention and rescue action, through the use of new transport technologies, such as remotely piloted aircraft for medicines, health equipment, and defibrillators. During the three-year duration of the Protocol and according to their respective prerogatives, Enac and Cri undertake to promote activities of mutual interest, including: experimenting with institutional deliveries with the use of drones; developing a road map with operators with adequate experience and operational authorisations issued by Enac for the achievement of the objectives of experimentation and execution of operational missions; further activities consist of activating courses, conferences, debates, workshops, seminars for the scientific and technological transfer of skills; carrying out simulations and exercises to use and test what has been put in place with the Protocol of Understanding; finally, promoting projects and initiatives at regional, national and/or European or international level.
