More than 223,000 signatures at the Quirinale, which in less than two months have signed the appeal of Italian scientists to the world of Italian politics promoted by Gren&Blue: the fight against the climate crisis is actually considered as the necessary basis to achieve fair and sustainable development in the years to come. On Wednesday, September 28, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella received, with the Nobel Prize for Physics Giorgio Parisi supporting the initiative from the start, the scientists who were the first signatories of the manifesto. The delegation consisted of Professors Carlo Barbante, Carlo Carraro, Antonio Navarra, Antonello Pasini, Riccardo Valentini and the Director of the paper La Repubblica, Maurizio Molinari. "This initiative - said Mattarella - has the merit of having put together two vanguards of our country: young people and scientists, both fundamental, because they know how to see the future. We know climate is our main problem, and this awareness is now widespread in society, much more than a few years ago. Yet what is happening in the world seems to have set aside the commitments made by the international community with the Paris Agreement or the UN Climate Conferences ". The president then added: "I will pass on your requests for systemic commitment on the climate to the new government and I will follow with particular attention what is to be done. Addressing the global warming emergency requires a great convergence of will between institutions, scientists and citizens, as our daily behaviors are important as well. "
