According to a study conducted by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Vestiaire Collective, the global resale market for secondhand clothing, accessories, and fashion-related things is currently worth between $100 and $120 billion, or more than three times as much as it was in 2020. Italy does its share, producing a respectable circular economy due to the internet. Almost 23 million Italians are participating, generating 24 billion euros, or 1.4% of the country's gross domestic product. The purchase of a "previously loved" object (this is how "secondhand" products are now called) is not a second decision, since 66% of those who purchased it began their search for non-new things. Those who sell do it primarily to clear out space, but also to offer objects a second chance and lessen their environmental effect. However, savings and profit also rate highly. The average profit for sellers was 1,121 euros. Once-fashionable clothing, accessories, books and periodicals, furniture and household goods are among the most commonly sold and purchased things.
