The crisis unleashed by the war in Ukraine leads almost 4 out of 10 Italians (37%) to hunt for local and farm-to-table products, which are at the top of the ranking on spending intentions for the coming months, also driven by the will to contribute to the reduction of energy consumption and to support the local economy. This is what emerges from a Coldiretti analysis based on the Coop 2022 report that photographs the effects on spending within the current difficult international situation, with inflation at record values and the gas supply crisis. In addition to ensuring greater freshness of products and cutting waste, the short supply chain also reduces transport times and, with them, fuel consumption and emissions into the atmosphere, replacing intermediaries with a direct relationship that benefits farmers and consumers from an economic point of view. In second place among the purchase intentions of Italians for the coming months there are, however, 100% Italian foods, which precede foods with sustainable packaging and those that guarantee respect for the environment, for a clear overall increase in green economy.
