Wine · noun, female. No grammatical error in the sentence reported, as an obvious consideration after the meeting held yesterday at Palazzo Roccabruna, on the last day of the first edition of the Trentodoc Festival. “Le donne delle bollicine” ("Women of the bubbles") was the title of the initiative by Alice Paillard, owner of the homonymous house, Clementina Balter, number one of the historic wineries in Rovereto, Giulia Pedrini, Production and Sales Manager of Pravis, and Donatella Pedrotti, head of the famous company producing sparkling wines in Nomi. Alice Paillard herself, whose Maison Paillard was founded by her father and now is a world brand, opens the talk: "Often in wine we talk about family stories and continuity. In my case, luck has been in coming back after experiences abroad and taking the reins left by my father. When I started, the men around me gave me courage and pushed me to find the will to assert myself. " Donatella Pedrotti, on the other hand, came to wine from financial analysis, moving from numbers to family tradition: "At some point what my sister Chiara and I had inside came out, that is, our relationship with the company, now totally female-run; suffice to say that, from an early age, we did the harvest". But is the world of wine a world open to women or not? Surely things are different today compared to twenty years ago and what really matters is not gender, but competence. As Giulia Pedrini also confirmed: "The presence of women is fundamental; women give an extra touch with taste. I am talking about the finesse of the female palate, which is by no means second to that of men. There are no obstacles right now: if a woman has competence and is humble, if she knows where she comes from, the problem will never exist. " And if the wine sector is healthy today, perhaps the merit is also from the female world: "Oenology today is experiencing, despite the obviously complex moment, a positive response, especially with regard to Trentodoc. We look to the future with enthusiasm and hope,” concludes Clementina Balter.
