In Tuscany people age well, also thanks to digital innovation and good practices that promote active and healthy ageing. From Europe, Tuscany has already been considered a two-star "reference site" on the subject since 2016: in recent days, the European Commission has renewed the recognition, given to sixty-four regions more, and the third star has come. The plaque was delivered on October 10 in Brussels. Tuscany is among the longest-lived regions in the world: it has long boasted one of the highest life expectancies at birth, 81.1 years for men and 85.2 years for women. It is also among the oldest regions, the sixth in Italy after Liguria, Sardinia, Molise, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Umbria: among the inhabitants, over 950 thousand people are more than 64 years old, 26 percent of all residents. A substantial percentage.
