951 members in Italy and abroad, including museums, institutions and other realities related to contemporary art, with 1,065 events in Italy including 60 initiatives abroad: these are the numbers of the Eighteenth Day of Contemporary, the great event promoted by AMACI - Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums which took place last Saturday, October 8, with the support of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture and with the collaboration of the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. For eighteen years, the Day of Contemporary Art has involved museums, foundations, public and private institutions, galleries, studios, and artist spaces to reveal the vitality of contemporary art in Italy: an eagerly anticipated and intense event, which this year has given birth to a dense calendar full of online and offline initiatives designed to highlight the network of subjects and realities that promote contemporary languages and to put the general public back in touch with contemporary art. The leitmotif of this edition is the reflection on the theme of ecology connected to that of sustainability, closely linked to the guiding image of Giorgio Andreotta Calò (Venice, 1979), Icarus (2021-2022), the last piece of an articulated project created by the artist starting from 2019.
