Halloween, also known as Witches’ Night, is celebrated every year on the night of October 31. It is an event of Celtic origin very popular in the United States that has been a big success for years in many other countries. As is well known, this celebration is associated with various symbols related to the occult (such as the pumpkin carved with a smiling face) and traditions, including the trick-or-treat formula repeated by children walking from house to house to get sweets as a gift. The habit has spread also in Italy, both among adults and children, who celebrate Halloween with parties, dinners, events and themed nights, both at home and in the clubs. Given the popularity of the event, the O.N.F. – Federconsumatori National Observatory has updated the monitoring of costs for parties and disguises, comparing them with those of 2019. Overall, across all categories, prices have risen significantly in line with the strong inflationary push on all goods. For the purchase of a "creepy" costume the expense is 48.41 euros for a child and 52.90 euros for an adult (respectively +2% and +10% compared to 2019). In some cases, a rental is preferred, perhaps with the prospect of varying the disguise from year to year. In this case, costs vary considerably depending on the different geographical areas: according to the mask prices recorded in Milan (51.00 euros), Rome (54.20 euros) and Naples (43.00 euros), there has been an increase in price compared to 2019 from +1% to +10%. Moreover, a Halloween mask would not be be complete without a proper make-up: depending on the size of the kit, the tricks have a cost ranging from 9.26 euros to 22.39 euros, with an increase of 4% for small kits formed by a brush and 5 colors, and 21% for large kits formed by a brush, a sponge and 8 colors.
