Because it is an acronym that stands for "fear of missing out," English speakers understand it better than Italians. It is FoMo, a type of social anxiety characterized by a desire to be constantly connected to the activities of others and a fear of being excluded from particularly rewarding experiences. Victoria De Angelis, Maneskin's bassist, has recently spoken about it as a guest on Radio Deejay (one of the main Italian radio stations). The musician admitted to being affected, citing an incident in which she was involved in order to better understand the phenomenon. "Even if I'm exhausted, I have to go out every day or I miss something," she said on the radio. "One day in New York, we returned to the hotel at 1 a.m. Thomas (Raggi, the band's guitarist, ed) asks me out, but was exhasted. I was in bed when he texted me at 2 a.m.: "I'm at Madonna's house”, that simple text made me have FoMo”. (Photo Fabio Germinario)
