Halloween is surviving the crisis caused by high bills and inflation, but a return to pre-crisis levels is still a long way off: for the night of the witches in 2022, Italians spent about 192 million euros, nearly 8% more than in 2021, but still 60 million less than in 2019, the year before the pandemic. This is the result of the usual Confesercenti and SWG consumer survey for Halloween celebrations. The festival has a long history in Italy, though its expansion has slowed since the pandemic. 2022 marks a recovery in spending on last year - which, however, still discounted concerns related to infections - but the share of Italians participating remains stable at 16%. Those with young children are most likely to participate (28%), followed by young adults (18–34 years old, who make up one in four (25%) and adults aged 35–54 (22%) in the celebration. In terms of geographical areas, this year's inhabitants of the South and Islands (20%) are the most convinced by the Night of the Witches, compared to those of Central Italy (8%). As previously stated, the average Halloween spending budget increases slightly from 23 to 25 euros per person in 2021. Even in this case, the expected expenditure is higher in the south (26 euros) and, in particular, among people with young children (around 30 euros).
