The European Commission has approved a €512 million measure in favor of Poste Italiane for the creation and updating of digital services in small municipalities. The objective of the funding is to provide new digital services of the Public Administration to citizens and businesses of municipalities with less than 15 thousand inhabitants, thus bridging the digital divide in these areas. In particular, the funds will support the installation and refurbishment of ATMs, self-service stations for access to digital public services, interactive screens and counters in post offices. Two other compensations had already been launched in favor of the group: a first tranche, on October 5, of 21.1 million for the installation of 5,000 charging stations for electric vehicles in 2,100 small Italian municipalities; a second one, on October 19, of 20 million for the creation of 80 co-working spaces in small and medium-sized cities. The measure will last until December 31, 2026, with direct grants to cover project development costs.
