"We talked about migratory flows, the Italian requests and a change in the Italian position so that for us the priority becomes a priority already foreseen in the European regulations, which is the defense of the external borders. This is a sensitive subject on which I have found ears willing to listen. Seeing each other helps, we are not Martians". Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made her European debut with a day of institutional meetings in Brussels: Metsola, Von der Leyen, Michel and an informal lunch with Commissioner Gentiloni. In the evening, the Premier spoke to journalists about the issues addressed in the talks. "Faced with the current difficulties of the rising costs of raw materials and inflation, we discussed how we can work together to implement the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) in such a way that these resources can actually be available, also thinking about what today the top priorities are around, for example, the energy issue," Meloni said. "I decided to organize in Brussels the first institutional visit of the Italian government, outside the national borders – explained the President of the Council - I wanted to give a signal, which I brought today, of a country ready to participate, collaborate, defend its national interest within the European dimension, looking for the best solutions together with the other countries on the great challenges we are facing".
