In 2022, Amazon created 3,000 new jobs in Italy, bringing the total number of employees to over 17,000. In 2021, the multinational invested more than 4 billion euros in Italy (with a +38% compared to 2.9 billion euros in 2020). Total revenues from activities are also growing, which in 2021 amounted to over 8.75 billion euros – with a +21% compared to 7.25 billion euros in 2020. The total tax contribution – aggregating direct and indirect taxes – was over 751 million euros (+118% compared to 345 million euros in 2020). The total number of indirect jobs reached 108,000, including the 60,000 jobs created by small and medium-sized Italian companies that use Amazon services to grow their business and to export Italian products to the world. In 2021 Amazon opened new offices and currently has more than 60 facilities throughout Italy, both logistics and corporate. In 2021, the Italian small and medium-sized companies that sold on Amazon stores were more than 20,000 (from 18,000 in 2020) and half of these reached over 800 million euros in international sales. The next goal is to reach 1.2 billion euros in annual sales abroad. The Amazon Made in Italy showcase, supported by Ice Agency, is a further tool, and today over 4,500 artisans and SMEs benefit from it by offering over 1 million products to Amazon customers who have also signed agreements with the regions of Liguria, Sicily, Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria to bring support to local businesses.
