The government's priority is and will remain costly energy, even in 2023, to the point where the 21 billion in fiscal maneuvering will be utilized entirely to "defend the most vulnerable households." In a hearing before the Special Committees of Chambers and Senate on NADEF, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti takes a cautious approach to GDP projections, assuming that "The current worldwide environment presents increasing obstacles, particularly for European countries. For some months, the global economy has been plagued by broad and unusually high inflation, which is proving to be more persistent than projected. Raw material costs, particularly energy prices, exert tremendous upward pressure on the whole supply chain, stifling manufacturing activity, particularly in energy-intensive industries ". As a result of this, "The government intends to safeguard the most vulnerable households by allocating the full 21 billion available for 2023 to energy. Internal compensation will need to be established if interventions are to be made in other areas". (Photo PAT)
