On the occasion of the World Day for the Rights of Children and Adolescents of November 20, when back in in 1959 the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the Criminal Analysis Service, a structure composed of the State Police, the Carabinieri, the Finance Police and the Penitentiary Police, has produced a Report on child victims of abuse, in the two-year period 2020-2021. The analysis shows that, in 2021, almost all the crimes examined increased (38,188 compared to 36,498 in 2020, while there were 19,431 in the first half of 2021 and 17,475 in the same period of 2022). Conversely, only those of grooming, abduction of disabled people and breach of family support obligations suffer a decrease. However, the trend recorded from January to June 2022 was different. In fact, there is a significant decrease in all the crimes examined, except for the cases of misuse of the correction systems, sexual violence and aggravated sexual violence because committed in educational institutions, which record an increase. In the first half of the year, although the overall crimes have decreased by 10% (from 19,431 crimes committed in the half of 2021 to 17,475 in the same period of 2022), those of misuse of the correction systems, sexual violence and aggravated sexual violence because committed in educational institutions instead undergo an increase. During the same period, for the majority of the crimes examined, the number of victims decreased, the majority of whom are females in the age group of 14.
