From the beginning of the year until yesterday, 104 women have been killed. This is what emerges from the data contained in the report "Prejudice and violence against women" recorded by the National Police Force on the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women of November 25. In the first nine months of the year, there was a decrease in the murders of women compared to the same period in 2021, with 82 murders instead of 90. The women have been remembered in the report with their given name and with a brief description of the crime. Of these 82 women, 71 were killed in a family and emotional environment (-8% compared to the previous period): 71,42 (almost 2 out of 3) died at the hands of their partner or former partner (-19%). Comparing 2021 with 2020, in which there is an increase of 6% of homicides in general, there is an unchanged number of female victims, with an increase of 1% of women killed in the family and affection environment. By an analysis on the modus operandi of murders of women in family/emotional settings in 2022, there are 31 cases of women killed with the use of cold steel or offensive weapons (e.g. kitchen knives, work tools and stones); 19 have been killed with firearms, 10 were strangled and another 10 were beaten; one is the case detected of poisoning.
