Due to the bad weather that hit all of Italy yesterday, the red alert was issued in Abruzzo and Sardinia, while the orange alert was broadcast in Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Molise and Veneto; the yellow alert was instead provided in Emilia Romagna, Marche, Puglia, Sicily and Umbria. These are the consequences of the passage of the Poppea cyclone, which has caused downpours, lots of snow in the Alps, hurricane winds, coastal storms and tornadoes. Several areas throughout Italy have already been damaged by bad weather: the Roman coast, for example, has been hit by a strong storm, among the worst in recent years, with waves that have exceeded three meters and that have severely tested the beach resorts from Ostia to the north coast of Rome, included the coast of south Fregene, where there was already a problematic erosion. The strong wind on the northwest of Sardinia, with peaks of up to 100 km per hour, prevented the landing of flights arriving from Rome and Milan, which were to arrive at the airport of Alghero and were instead diverted to the airport of Olbia Costa Smeralda.
