Many rescuers are still busy finding the missing of the landslide that hit Casamicciola, a small town located on the island of Ischia, on the night between Friday and Saturday. There are currently eight confirmed victims: the first was a 31-year-old woman from the municipality of Lacco Ameno who lived in Casamicciola. The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the President Giorgia Meloni and the Minister for Civil Protection and Sea Policies Nello Musumeci, met immediately and deliberated the declaration of the State of Emergency. Two million euros have been allocated from the National Emergency Fund for the implementation of the first emergency interventions, relief and assistance to the population and the restoration of the functionality of public services and strategic network infrastructures. As a result of the in-depth analysis of the actual impact of the events, the additional appropriations necessary for the completion of the activities will be assessed. On the occasion, the Council of Ministers also announced that the "National Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change" will be approved within the year: the competent ministers will carry out a careful survey of the financial resources already existing to face the national hydrogeological emergency to use them in full, and of the staff to be dedicated to support the municipalities, starting with the smallest ones.
