Yesterday morning, Pope Francis welcomed in audience the Chief of Police Lamberto Giannini, who was joined by the Central Anti-Crime Director Francesco Messina and a delegation of the State Police operative articulations dealing with countering female violence. The delegation, which included over 130 women and men from the State Police who work every day to combat the unacceptable phenomena of violence against women, was also accompanied by representatives from Anti-Violence Centers and several victims of maltreatment. The special audience was held in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the introduction of the 2022 edition of the State Police's ongoing campaign "This is Not Love." This year, the campaign's instructive brochure was enhanced by Pope Francis' comments on this "drama with many faces", raising his voice and praying once again in defense of the countless women across the globe who continue to confront psychological, verbal, physical, economic, and sexual assault on a daily basis.
