The government has already recorded about 90 billion euros of additional debt with the budget plan for 2023: it is the gap in deficit between the 981 billion euros in expected revenues and the 1,071 billion in previously budgeted spending. The state will collect 50.6 billion euros more next year than in 2022, with total revenues hitting 49.2% of GDP, up from 48.9% at the end of this year. These are the findings of a study conducted by the Unimpresa Study Center. Therefore, both individuals and corporations will be expected to pay higher tax rates and more social contributions. The rise in social contributions (mostly INPS payments) accounts for 8.7 billion, while the growth in VAT income and taxes incurred by firms (IRES and IRAP) accounts for over 29 billion, and other revenues account for 20 billion. More than €981 billion will flow into government coffers in 2023, up 5.4% over this year's €930 billion.
