Despite the challenging financial environment, digital investment continues to expand. Following a substantial gain (+4%) in 2022, it is anticipated that the ICT budgets of Italian firms will expand by 2.1% in 2023, with contributions from companies of all sizes, including SMEs, which will increase by 2.4%. Large-scale investments will prioritize Information Security Systems (50%), Business Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics (46%), and Cloud (30%), followed by Profiling and Contact Management Software (CRM) and Management Software (ERP). Most major corporations have already incorporated sustainability concerns into their strategic plans, except for SMEs, which must prioritize day-to-day operations. And digital is the vehicle for facilitating sustainable transition processes: 60% of major organizations (and 29% of SMEs) have specified organized methodologies or roles to react to sustainability goals. Among major firms that have already committed to sustainability, 65% have opted to invest in digital to fulfill goals in this area (29% among SMEs), namely with Big Data and Analytics systems, Industry 4.0 solutions, and Smart Working technologies. Only 3% of major corporations and 23% of SMEs do not yet pursue sustainability objectives.
