In 2021, the one hundred largest luxury goods companies in the world generated sales of 305 billion dollars, surpassing by 53 billion in 2020 and 24 billion even the results obtained in the pre-pandemic, with a growth of 8.5 percent. This is documented by the ‘Global Powers of Luxury Goods’ Deloitte's annual study, which examines and ranks the top 100 players in the fashion & luxury sector globally. While France is the first country in terms of turnover, Italy has 23 companies among the 100 in the ranking. Prada, Moncler and Giorgio Armani are on the podium of the main Italian players, respectively in the 18th, 27th and 28th place in the global ranking. Together, the three groups represent 35% of the sales of luxury goods made by the Italian companies in the ranking in 2021. Among them, Moncler is the brand with the most consistent overall performance, being for five consecutive years among the fastest growing companies, with a +12.9% for the period 2018-2021. Moreover, almost all of the 21 companies recorded a double-digit increase in sales of luxury goods of between 17.3% and 49.3%.
