There are about 1,400,000 women-owned firms in Italy, representing 22.1% of the total. Two-thirds (66.8%) of these businesses operate in the tertiary sector, a quarter are corporations, and they have risen by 1.6% over the last five years. This is based on statistics from Confcommercio, which held the seventh National Forum of Tertiary Women yesterday in Rome "Future female entrepreneurs A contract between genders and generations ". During the forum, some interesting information about female entrepreneurship in the tertiary sector surfaced. Six in ten tertiary sector female entrepreneurs believe it is crucial to advocate for a better balance between work and personal life (64% of women polled mention this as a priority, with that number rising to 70% among graduates), a topic where the gender gap is at its widest, by as much as 15 percentage points. A delicate subject comparable to that of parental support and equal job and income prospects. Women business owners, however, tend to have a longer-term outlook, and they are more likely to call for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and training for the next generation than men business owners do (38.1% vs. 48.5%). Seven in ten plan to invest in training, particularly in digital challenges and managerial and business management skills: 14,7 % of respondents want to enhance their understanding of credit and finance, and 14,1 % will focus on green concerns, skills, and sustainability.
