Yesterday, the European Parliament debuted Ace Brain, the Italian center of excellence Algorand for Blockchain, born from a joint initiative of the University of Roma Tre, the Catholic University of Milan, the Ugo Bordoni Foundation and the European University Institute. The research, regulation and innovation center will focus on analyzing the compatibility between blockchain technology and EU legislation, and promoting blockchain technology as a pillar of the future EU single market and as a foundation for a more democratic, resilient and sustainable society. The inaugural meeting of Ace Brain, which was convened by European Parliament Vice-President Eva Kaili, saw key experts and policy makers from European institutions and national governments discuss key topics for the ongoing digital transformation process in the EU, such as the evolution of blockchains towards a more sustainable paradigm; the compatibility of blockchains with European standards; possible applications for the single market, with particular attention to digital identity, digital wallets and data conversation.
