Sensitivity to nature is the most representative feature of the Italian government’s attention to devoting to the protection of bees. According to yesterday’s announcement, the resources allocated to the beekeeping sector would be increased from 9 million to 17 million euros. For each year, from 2023 to 2017, over 17 million euros were made available to support interventions in the field of technical assistance services, consultancy, training, information and exchange of virtuous practices for beekeepers and beekeeper organizations, as well as for investments in tangible and intangible fixed assets, for collaborations with bodies specialized in research programmes and for promotion, communication and marketing actions. The sector is considered central to Italian agriculture. This is a crucial sector both from an economic point of view, with a national honey production of around 18,500 tonnes, and from that of safeguarding biodiversity, which is linked to the pollination function of bees, which is one of the most reliable indicators of environmental well-being.
