There are updates about the building of the Strait Bridge. The ambitious project that Italy has had "in the drawer" for many years and that aims to join Calabria and Sicily has got a first yes from the European Commission, which said that it was prepared to fund the first phase of execution. The work has always attracted the attention of Brussels, which immediately incorporated it into the Scandinavia-Mediterranean corridor project, stretching from Finland to Malta, which, along with the other eight corridors, constitutes the Ten-T network of directives to be developed to improve transport in the EU. "We are ready - said Adina Valean, EU Commissioner for Transport, - and we anticipate a strong, solid proposal to fund the first part of the feasibility study so that the project really gets off the ground because, in addition to a line or an intention on a map, what is required is a project." The time element and the cash aspect are both crucial. The works included in the Ten-T corridors have in fact a first great deadline, the Core Network, whose completion is scheduled for 2030.
