"The NextGenerationEu was an initial reaction at the European level, but it is now evident to everybody that it is insufficient, since it was a strategy to combat the impacts of the epidemic. Clearly, it could not account for the consequences of the Ukraine conflict." These are the comments of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at "L'Italia delle Regioni," the first Festival presented by the Regions and Autonomous Provinces to highlight the richness of the Italian territory, which took place in Monza. "We must do more at the European level, particularly in the area of energy, and we must promote national cohesion and solidarity. Therefore, it is vital to engage in a constructive discourse with all the concerned institutional players in order to conceive and formulate a future plan ". According to the prime minister, "some major objectives of the Pnrr cannot be achieved without significant involvement of the regions, from energy to health to give a few examples" and "it will be essential that the resources and objectives of the Pnrr are linked and complementary with the interventions and resources that are provided for by other national policies - I am thinking, for instance, of cohesion policy" "First the epidemic and then the conflict in Ukraine have objectively propelled us into a whole new world, a geopolitical and economic setting in which we cannot abandon coherence and solidarity at any level. We cannot abandon a long-term perspective because the structural challenges we face are primarily the result of short-sighted policies of the past, as the Prime Minister emphasized, clarifying: "Think about energy: the EU and several Member States, including Italy, have in the past preferred to gradually increase their level of dependence on other nations rather than working to implement measures that would strengthen production, independence, and national sovereignty ". One of the central topics of the premier's statement was autonomy "This administration has a strong commitment to partnership between the State, regions, autonomous provinces, and local governments. "On the question of differentiated autonomy, the government wishes to support its implementation promptly, in a larger framework of reforms, all important to strengthen and modernize the present institutional structure of the State," Meloni said, emphasizing the need of investing heavily in the synergy at all levels in which the Republic is expressed. The objective is increased accountability for everyone: regions, local governments, and states. But this will never be an excuse to abandon portions of Italian territory. We shall endeavor for its moral execution ".
