"Hidden Mediterranean", the territorial digital platform built by COOPCULTURE to promote a new type of responsible and sustainable tourism, was formally introduced yesterday. About 300 assets from all along the supply chain of the participating nations (Jordan, Italy, Lebanon, and Palestine) are centralized in this platform. These assets include cities, natural and cultural attractions, experiences, events, itineraries, and stakeholders. COOPCULTURE, an Italian firm dedicated to promoting artistic and cultural heritage, has shared its expertise in the design of digital platforms that can generate genuine ecosystems to serve as a forum for the promotion of cultural goods and as a hub for the interaction of users, institutions, and local businesses. Launched at the end of October, Hidden Mediterranean is a part of CROSSDEV (Cultural Routes for Sustainable Social and Economic Development in the Mediterranean), a project funded by the European Union's ENI CBC Med Program that aims to promote a more responsible and environmentally friendly style of tourism in five lesser-known Mediterranean destinations in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda. The five locations designated by the project are Aqaba and Al Qais in Jordan, Via Selinuntina in Italy, Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve in Lebanon, and the Palestinian Heritage Trail in Palestine. The project began in September 2019 under the leadership of the International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP) and the participation of various partners.
