Even scams demand innovation, and man's drive to gain money fast and easily has no bounds. False fines are a new phenomenon that have upped the threshold. Yesterday, it was the Naples police who attempted to explain the rising occurrence. There has been a spate of calls to the police about suspicious people leaving fake copies of the Highway Code on the windshields of parked automobiles. Unlike the legitimate fines issued by the Municipality of Naples, these ones list an erroneous Iban, invoice, and type. The goal of the fraudster would be to get the unlucky driver to pay the fake fine right away on the fraudster's own account. The police said that "investigative activities are ongoing aimed at identifying of those responsible," although the responsible have not yet been identified.
