Italian food production is suffering a collapse, with a reduction of 4% in October compared to the same period of the previous year, which was almost three times the total of industrial production. This is what emerges from an analysis by Coldiretti research center based on the data of ISTAT research institute on Italian industrial production in October. The food sector also fell by 0.5% on a quarterly basis, in contrast to the general increase. This is a worrying slowdown in the preparation of stocks for Christmas tables, where traditionally the highest values of food consumption occur throughout the year. This phenomenon is the result of the difficulties faced by Italian families who, driven by high prices, put fewer products in the cart; it is also a sign of the problems of the production chain, which is currently struggling with the explosion of energy and raw material costs.
