The Jewish Community of Mantua's book legacy will be included in a single collective catalog owing to the activity of UCEI, Union of Italian Jewish Communities, in collaboration with the National Central Library of Rome and the municipality of Mantua. In order to "guard, conserve and make available, to researchers from all over the globe, the Jewish book legacy," "Italya Books" - a project that entails the creation of a single collective catalog of the Jewish books present in Italian public libraries - was established. Step one of the efforts was the Teresian Library's signing of a specific agreement of collaboration with UCEI, which outlines the responsibilities of both the city of Mantua and the Union of Italian Jewish communities. Since 1930, the Teresian library has conserved the local Jewish community's library, which comprises 161 codices in deposit and two codes of ownership of the library dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries, as well as 1,549 printed books.
